Offutt's Ultimate Science Show
Mike Offutt is on a mission; a mission to convince
young people that science is an exciting and meaningful activity!
Mike Offutt's Ultimate Science Show uses toys and household objects
to take students and families on a hilarious theatrical romp that
will awaken a child's natural interest in science. Family audiences
are constantly reminded that "It's NOT magic ... it's SCIENCE!"
An innovative
science teacher (32 years) now in his second career,
Mike was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching by
the National Science Foundation. Past appearances includ Smithsonian Institution's
Discovery Theater, Lancaster Festival in Ohio, Chicago Public Libraray System
and Museum of Science and Industry (for The Science of Green) and the
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. Grades Pre-K-8th, and families. |

Mike
Offutt's Tall Tales & Kitchen Band
Though
most often seen in his Ultimate Science Show, Mike Offutt is also
a storyteller (taaaaaaallllll Tall Tales), banjo player, and bandleader.
What's the Kitchen Band? Well, Mike brings all the instruments
... spoons, bones, washtub bass, bicycle horn, cowbell and other
homemade instruments. He recruits his band from the audience ...
and generally he "stays after" to
accommodate the long line of kids
and adults who want to try out
the theremin (think Beach Boys, Good Vibrations). Age level,
2-10 years and families.

sure you can imagine that children will remember his lesson
about electrical conductivity that was delivered in front of
a burning pickle ... for over 300 laughing, clapping, cheering children
and adults."
- Cook Memorial Library
”Wonderful!
Kids were completely attentive and enjoyed every minute. Teachers
commented that it was the best show this year.
-Jim Blum, WKSU Radio, Kent, Ohio
”You captivated
the children and their parents for the entire show. Thank you for including
so many of the kids as volunteers ... You made science fun!
